The concept of Empty Bowls is used worldwide to raise awareness and support to alleviate hunger by emphasizing that many people simply do not have enough to eat. The beautiful bowls donated by local artisans and, a highlight of the event, signify the many thousands of empty bowls in our community. Some of Durham Region’s finest chefs will provide signature cuisines and desserts to be enjoyed by 135 attendees. Feed the Need in Durham distributes approximately 1,200,000 pounds of perishable and non-perishable food each year to 63 member agencies (food bank, shelters, meal programs, soup kitchens and other social service agencies) across Durham. FTND supports over 456,000 visits each year through our emergency food providers.
