This Canadian Safety Council course gives your pre-teen the tools and information they need to stay at home alone for short periods of time. The course is facilitated by Red Cross certified instructors from React Right Safety Services.
Topics include:
- Looking after the house key (make a key chain);
- Preparing healthy snacks;*
- Walking home;
- Appropriate activities when home alone;
- Electrical/fire safety;
- Basic First Aid; and
- Problem solving (house broken into, severe weather).
Note: A healthy snack will be prepared during this program. Please advise staff of any allergies at time of registration.
Caregivers and support staff for people with disabilities are admitted free of charge.

Please note that caregivers of children under the age of 10 must be present in the Library for the duration of the program.
