January 27 is Family Literacy Day and the Whitby Public Library along with libraries across Durham Region are promoting literacy by encouraging their communities to participate in a reading challenge. #readfor15durham asks everyone to read anything — a book, instructions, a blog, a magazine, whatever you like — for 15 minutes and then register their minutes with the library. The library with the most participants will win the Readfor15 Trophy!
“Reading together helps develop readers for life.” says Whitby Public Library Community and Service Development Manager, Donna Bolton-Steele “#ReadFor15Durham and Family Literacy Day highlight the value of reading and literacy as tools that create connections, launch learning, ignite ideas and inspire imagination.”
The challenge runs from midnight to midnight on January 27.
