CELEBRATION SUNDAY ROYAL TEA & GARDEN PARTY AT PARKWOOD ESTATE

Sunday 26 June 2022
Hits : 652

Parkwood's largest ever outdoor Tea and Garden Party happening on Sunday, June 26th, will support their new girls STEM education award. The Parkwood Foundation is holding a Royal Tea & Garden Party at the home and museum of Col. Sam McLaughlin to raise funds for grade 12 girls in Durham Region who show passion and potential in the study of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Guests will be treated to soft live music, fabulous food, tea, a champagne toast and will have a chance to win fabulous prizes, including trips to England, Scotland and New York City, courtesy of Air Canada! Celebration Sunday Chair and Parkwood Board Director Justin Landry explains the reasons for the fundraiser; "We know that women make up less than 25% of people currently working in STEM careers and we see an opportunity as a board that helps to preserve the home of a Canadian innovator, to offer support to the future innovators of this country. We are offering two girls from each high school in Durham Region the chance to be recognized with our new "Progress Through Passion and Innovation Award" and one new student will win a scholarship each year from the Parkwood Foundation. It's a fabulous way to hopefully inspire young women and to celebrate their potential." Landry added that the support from the business community and donors has been inspiring. "Our Honourary Chair, Kathleen Taylor has put her full weight behind this event and the impact has been enormous. Our partners for Celebration Sunday include; Air Canada, RBC, General Motors of Canada, Ontario Tech University, Durham College, Tribute Communities, The Prosperity Project, Walkers Shortbread and Hildon Water - just to name a few." Celebration Sunday organizers have also partnered with the Ontario Regiment and the City of Oshawa to begin the day with a Military March Past Parade through downtown Oshawa. "This parade will serve as a wonderful introduction to our City for our out of town guests, but also serve as an opportunity to celebrate Her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee" said Landry. "We are so grateful to the Ontario Regiment, The Ontario Regiment Museum, the Pipe and Drums of the Royal Canadian Legion, Durham Regional Police, as well as the 78th Fraser Highlanders and of course the City of Oshawa." Advanced ticket holders can enter Parkwood via the Simcoe Street pedestrian gates at 1:30PM. Tea is served at 2:30PM. The public is encouraged to watch the Military March Past Parade which will travel in front of Oshawa City Hall at 1:00PM and travel to the McLaughlin Armoury via Simcoe Street by 1:20PM. Tickets are $150 and are on sale until June 12, 2022 at www.parkwoodestate.com

Location : Oshawa City Hall
