Word is out about this year’s “uxperience” taking place at the Uxbridge Music Hall, and tickets are selling quickly. If you haven’t experienced uxperience yet, you’re in for a real treat. And if you have, well, you know how much fun is in store – all for a great cause. Every year local volunteers work for months to create and perform “uxperience” for the purpose of helping local charities and non-profit organizations. Proceeds from this year’s rollicking roller-coaster of music, dancing and skits themed “Battle of the Sexes” (www.starticketing.com) will go to Cam’s Kids Foundation. This grassroots, Uxbridge-based organization is actively engaged in “Supporting Young People Struggling with Anxiety.”
The 2018 show is being directed by husband/wife team Jill and George Hempen. Organizers include producers Cathy Newton and Cheryl Hamilton, Musical Director Cyndie Jacobs, Skit Directors Rick Callaghan and Rich Helms, Blacklight Directors Krystyne Elliot and Rick Callaghan, and Dance Directors Wendy Dunn and Christine Williamson. Shawn Mendes, Michael Jackson, Paul Simon, Aretha Franklin, Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars … these are just a few of the songwriters whose music will be performed by the uxperience chorus and dancers. And brace yourself for the uxperience band, also under the direction of Cyndie Jacobs. These are talented musicians, folks! Oh, and let’s not forget skits. Rick and Rich are a wacky duo who find organizing the skitters like herding cats only more fun. You can only imagine the madcap mayhem inspired by “Battle of the Sexes” once this group gets hold of the theme. There will even be a blacklight number, which is a crowd favourite.
Anyone who has attended uxperience in the past will understand how much hard work and passion goes into this production – and it’s all to help our tight-knit community. Since uxperience began over 26 years ago, it has donated more than $135,000 to local organizations including the local hospital, Canadian Tire Jumpstart®, COPE Mental Health Uxbridge, North Durham Hospice, sports facilities, children’s projects and seniors’ programs, to name just a few.
Tickets for this year’s show are available from: www.starticketing.com or in person at Sugar FX (13 Brock Street West) and at the door on show nights. Ticket prices are $10.00 for children from 0 to 12 years; $20.00 for youth, students and seniors; and $23.00 for adults.
