Attend the Scugog Shores Museum’s annual fundraiser, Pioneer Day! See the village come to life to the sounds of the blacksmith, woodwri ght, printing press, engines, and more.

 

The Scu gog Shores Museum Village is happy to announce our annual Pioneer Day! This event raises money for the preservation and celebration of Scugog’s herita ge. A fun and family-friendly event, Pioneer Day is perfect for anyone who likes to learn new things, explore, and celebrate history.

 

Th is year’s Pioneer Day will take place on Sunday, August 25th, 20 19, and runs from 11:00am until 4:00pm. Visitors will be treated to heritag e demonstrations such as blacksmithing, wood and soap stone carving, spinni ng and weaving, and rug rooking. Guests may also explore the museum’s twelv e historic buildings while experiencing historic presentations such as clog ging. A barbeque, steamed corn, and bake sale will be on site for a bite to eat. In addition to our demonstrations and presentations, a collection of antique cars, gas engines, and half-scale steam engines will also be on dis play. Children and children-at-heart can try their hand at activities and c rafts inspired by the early settlers and Mississaugas of Scugog Island Firs t Nation, available at discovery stations around the historic property.

 

Pioneer Day is a perfect event for a family outing situated only 5 minutes from beautiful downtown Port Perry. General admission applies. A ll proceeds go to the Scugog Shores Museum.
