For over 30 years, The Charles H. Best Diabetes Centre has provided exceptional community-based services driven by our patients and their need for lifelong care, education and support. Our mission is to keep our children, youth and adults living with type 1 diabetes healthy until a cure is found.
With your help, these unique healthcare services will continue to be available until a cure is found.
Type 1 diabetes is not preventable and its cause is unknown. Insulin is required to survive; it is not a cure. Type 1 is the leading cause of amputations, kidney and heart disease and blindness. This life-threatening chronic disease can strike children and adults, at any age. At minimum, a person living with type 1 diabetes will test their blood sugar by poking their finger with a needle up to 8 times per day and need to inject insulin before they eat anything – this amounts to at least 5,100 needle pokes each year, for life!
Today, The Charles H. Best Diabetes Centre cares for over 375 paediatric families and roughly 1400 adults. Your help is needed to keep our children healthy. Please join us on Thursday July 23rd, 2020!
