Sew It Yourself: From Zero to Sleepwear Hero

Tired of clothes that cost too much, fit too little, and fall apart faster than your motivation to fold laundry? Take matters into your own hands—literally! The Oshawa Museum and Patty Davis from The Costume People are partnering for the first new program of 2026!

In this five-week beginner-friendly course, you’ll learn how to use your sewing machine with confidence (and maybe even affection). Start with the basics and work up to two real, wearable projects: a stylish camisole and a cozy pair of pyjama bottoms!

Expect a few wobbly seams, plenty of laughs, and the thrill of making something that’s truly your own. The fabric, patterns, and notions will be provided; participants need to bring their own sewing machine, a small extension cord, and a basic sewing kit that includes a measuring tape, ruler, water-soluble pen, marking tools, pins, needles, thread, scissors, etc.

Dates: Five-week course, Wednesday evenings:

  • January 21
  • January 28
  • February 4
